Investing in Sandtown's Future

The Sandtown Center

The Sandtown Center is an upcoming project aimed at restoring hope and opportunity to the Sandtown-Winchester community. The Center is envisioned as a future hub for education, wellness, workforce training, and neighborhood support. Set to renovate the 1409-11 Presstman Street buildings, this transformative project reflects a commitment to long-term investment and local leadership.

The Sandtown Center represents a vision of transformation rooted in the needs and aspirations of the community. Designed to be more than just a building, the center will serve as a vibrant hub for support services, workforce development, and cultural programming. By fostering collaboration and providing essential resources, it aims to restore pride, nurture talent, and unlock new possibilities for Sandtown-Winchester residents. C.U.T.S. is proud to support this vision and stands united with community partners to bring it to life—step by step, brick by brick, dream by dream.

The Sandtown Center will provide “wrap-around” services designed to develop Sandtown into a healthy, thriving, and sustainable community.  Through the Sandtown Center, CUTS will implement a set of programs that are adjuncts of programs CUTS is presently implementing throughout the Sandtown-Winchester Harlem Park communities.  The programs are designed to alleviate hunger, improve community health outcomes, support workforce development, and mitigate health disparities.

Programs Designed for Community Impact

The Sandtown Center will provide GED Certification Programs and Workforce development training in collaboration with South Baltimore Learning Center.

The Sandtown Center will provide a Food Pantry program, which will provide free groceries and supportive services to Sandtown residents. The program will run in partnership with the Maryland Food Bank.

The Sandtown Center will provide Mental Health Programs through the Black Mental Health Alliance, which will assist residents in identifying mental health concerns early and help them navigate the mental health continuum of care.

The Sandtown Center will provide a “point of service” cardiovascular disease (CVD) initiative; CUTS provides on-site community screenings, CVD education, and care coordination through a cardiovascular disease risk reduction grant from our partners at LifeBridges Health Medical Center.

The Sandtown Center will provide a virtual digital medicine clinic. This will expand CUTS’ ability to reach clients “where they are” by providing them with lifesaving medical and lifestyle resources and care coordination in their community,

The Sandtown Center will provide supportive programs for seniors, including assistance with signing up for and accessing Social Security benefits, transportation, meals, and legal affairs.

The Sandtown Center will provide Community Health Worker (CHW) training opportunities for the residents.  We will collaborate with the Baltimore Black Chamber of Commerce to implement a job placement program after certification.

The Sandtown Center will partner with New Vision House and Project Place to ensure that all clients without housing are triaged into their housing programs and substance use mitigation initiatives.

The Sandtown Center will provide Youth After-School programs in partnership with the youth-focused organizations of the Sandtown Winchester Community Collective.
